Mardi Gras Party is Awesome

What’s the best thing to put on the menu the weekend before Lent starts? Why, a Mardi Gras party, of course!

Little Flower hosted almost 200 people on February 25 at social evening that really put the “fun” in fundraising. Featuring prizes, give-aways, a King Cake, 50-50 draw and Karaoke performances, the Mardi Gras theme was everywhere in evidence. Revellers were treated to a lavish beef buffet supper from Charlotte’s Catering in Moose Jaw. Three kinds of dessert. Wine and beer, coffee and tea, juices. So sumptuous!

Special thanks to Carol Kuntz and her team of volunteers, the Men’s Club and kitchen workers, plus all the singers, dancers and storytellers, everyone who contributed prizes or cash, and all those who attended.

All of your contributions made for one amazing evening of entertainment!

Epiphany of the Lord

The Magi have arrived, and the divinity of the Infant Jesus is confirmed through the symbolism of their gifts. Gold, representing divinity. Frankincense, a sacrificial incense. Myrrh, an annointing oil.

The Epiphany of the Lord, celebrates his manifestation to the Gentiles, represented by the Wise Men. "And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. ... They shall bring gold and frankincense, and shall proclaim the praise of the Lord" (Isaiah 60:3,6).

A Delightful Anniversary

December 27 marked Father Jose’s 21st Anniversary of Ordination, and parishioners turned out in force to celebrate with him. The evening started with Mass, in a church beautifully decorated for the Christmas season – lights twinkling, the stable warm and well-lit, the Star of Bethlehem high above the altar.

After Mass we gathered in the hall for a feast provided by Charlotte’s Catering. Roast beef, potatoes, hot vegetables and an amazing array of salads topped were topped off by light and fanciful desserts.

Father enjoyed various speeches and presentations from members of his flock, and then the highlight of the evening – a special performance from a troupe of dancers who performed for us. They were a whirling, spinning pageant of delight. And then there was cake ... no celebration could be complete without a special cake to top off the night.

Special thanks to Roberta Dreher, Marge Tunison, Donna Costella and all the helpers who made this wonderful evening possible. And to Penny Forrest for keeping events moving along very nicely indeed!
