Fr. Jose Celebrates 20 Years in Priesthood

On December 27, Little Flower and Holy Cross parishes joined forces to commemorate Fr. Jose’s 20 years in the priesthood. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of volunteers from both parishes, Father was celebrated in song, speech, gift and prayer.

Our gratitude goes to Social Activities Chair Roberta Dreher and her team in the kitchen for keeping everyone organized and arranging for a fabulous meal from Charlotte’s; to our two emcees for the evening Carol Kuntz and Lori Garchinski who    expertly kept the evening moving along; and to honoured guests Fr. Ken Koep, Fr. Marcel George and Fr. Norm Marcotte for their kind words and very funny stories.

The evening wouldn’t have been complete without the entertainment provided when musicians from our two parishes took to the stage together, performing some old favourite Christmas carols the audience could sing along with. There was even an appearance by A Man Called Charly — you may know him as Fr. John Weckend.

Many thoughtful and much-appreciated gifts were presented: a giant card signed by the school children at St. Augustine, St. Andrew and St. Dominic, hand-drawn mementos from the Children’s Liturgy little ones, a spiritual bouquet bursting with prayers the Korean community will say specially for Father and his intentions, presentations on behalf of the CWLs, the Knights and the Men’s Club, and an amazing number of cards and notes of congratulations from parishioners and Father’s friends. Father also received a an alb he can wear for Masses as a joint gift from members of his two parishes.

Thank you to everyone who helped co-ordinate efforts and support of parishioners from both Little Flower and Holy Cross. Your time and talents made this such a special event!

Feast of St. Thérèse

God bless everyone who joined in praying the parish Novena to the Little Flower, which ended on the Feast of St. Thérèse.

Our feast day Mass on Oct. 1 was well-attended, and many enjoyed coffee, dainties and a film on Pope St. John Paul II afterwards. And on Sunday, Oct. 4, celebrations continued with Donut Day after 11 a.m. Mass. Looks like everyone enjoyed their coffee and conversation!
